This innovative approach to internationalization enables students to gain international learning experiences within their academic courses. It fosters the development of intercultural competencies, promotes global teamwork, and facilitates direct engagement with diverse academic and professional environments—all without requiring travel outside of Brazil. This experience broadens perspectives, stimulates creativity, and prepares individuals for an increasingly interconnected world.

The COIL collaboration targets the Bachelor of Biology and Bachelor of Respiratory Therapy (Microbiology) programs at San Pedro College in the Philippines, and the Bachelor of Medicine (Family and Community Health) and Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (Preventive Veterinary Medicine) programs at Centro Universitário Max Planck (UniMAX) in Brazil. Focused on the theme of Emerging Infectious Diseases (EIDs), the collaboration promotes interdisciplinary learning collaboratively with the One Health approach in analyzing and proposing evidence-based solutions for emerging infectious diseases (EIDs) through the development and presentation of a global interdisciplinary action plan.
