COIL

Who can participate?

Students and professors from UniFAJ and UniMAX, across various courses, who are interested in exchanging academic and cultural experiences within an international collaborative environment.

 

How long does the project last?

The duration varies depending on the specific course and the international partner institution. While typically ranging from 6 to 8 weeks, it can extend anywhere from 4 to 12 weeks.

Do I need to speak another language?

Fluency is not required, but a willingness to communicate is important. Many projects use English as the primary language, with support from professors.

What is COIL at UniFAJ and UniMAX?

COIL is a methodology that connects students and faculty from UniFAJ and UniMAX with peers from various countries to collaborate on joint projects entirely online. This innovative approach to internationalization fosters cultural exchange and broadens perspectives, all without the need to travel outside of Brazil.

Are there costs to participate?

No. The COIL program at UniFAJ and UniMAX is entirely free for students enrolled at the institution.

How can I participate?

The International Department informs faculty members about available COIL project proposals. Professors can then express their interest in participating and involve their classes in these collaborative projects.

Incoming Mobility

Who can participate?

Students from UniFAJ and UniMAX partner universities are eligible to participate if they wish to undertake a study period in Brazil, whether for one or two semesters or for an internship, under the terms of international mobility agreements.

How long does the exchange program last?

The mobility period can be short-term or last up to one academic year (1 or 2 semesters), depending on the agreement established with the home university.

Do I need to speak Portuguese to study at UniFAJ and UniMAX?

While fluency in Portuguese is not mandatory, it is advisable to have some level of comprehension and communication in the language (A2/B1). UniFAJ and UniMAX offer language support and Portuguese courses for foreigners, in addition to providing materials and activities in English, which facilitates the international student's adaptation.

Students regularly enrolled at UniFAJ and UniMAX are eligible to participate, provided they are up-to-date with their academic, administrative, and financial obligations, and meet the criteria established by the International Department and the host institution.

The duration varies according to the program and partner institution. UniFAJ and UniMAX offer exchange programs ranging from short-term to a full academic year abroad (1 or 2 semesters). The choice of exchange program is directly linked to the student's objectives and goals.

What types of programs are available?

UniFAJ and UniMAX offer Study Mobility, Internship Mobility, and Short-Term Course Mobility programs to their students, in accordance with partnerships established with foreign universities and institutions.

Do I need to be fluent in another language?
