COIL

Who can participate?

UniFAJ students and faculty from various programs who are interested in exchanging academic and cultural experiences in an international, collaborative environment.

 

How long does the project last?

The duration varies depending on the specific course and the international partner institution. While typically ranging from 6 to 8 weeks, it can extend anywhere from 4 to 12 weeks.

Do I need to speak another language?

Fluency is not required, but a willingness to communicate is important. Many projects use English as the primary language, with support from professors.

What is COIL UniFAJ?

It is a methodology that connects UniFAJ students and faculty with peers from different countries to develop joint projects entirely online. An innovative approach to internationalization that brings cultures closer together and broadens horizons—without having to leave Brazil.

Are there costs to participate?

No. COIL UniFAJ is completely free for students at the institution.

How can I participate?

The International Department informs faculty members about available COIL project proposals. Professors can then express their interest in participating and involve their classes in these collaborative projects.

Incoming Mobility

Who can participate?

Students from UniFAJ’s partner universities who wish to study in Brazil—whether for one or two semesters or for an internship—are eligible to participate, in accordance with international mobility agreements.

How long does the exchange program last?

The mobility period can be short-term or last up to one academic year (1 or 2 semesters), depending on the agreement established with the home university.

Do I need to speak Portuguese to study at UniFAJ?

Fluency in Portuguese is not required, but it is advisable to have some level of understanding and communication skills in the language (A2/B1). UniFAJ offers language support and Portuguese courses for international students, in addition to providing materials and activities in English, making it easier for international students to adjust.

What is UniFAJ's Incoming Mobility program?

This is the program that welcomes international students to UniFAJ, offering them the opportunity to study in our areas of excellence and experience the academic and cultural life of one of Brazil’s most innovative institutions.

What does UniFAJ offer international students?

In general, students remain enrolled at their home university and do not pay tuition at UniFAJ, in accordance with the current academic cooperation agreements.

Students can take courses in UniFAJ’s various areas of excellence, in accordance with the partnership agreement between the institutions and the academic availability of each program.

How can I apply?

Applications are submitted through the official channels of the home institution, in partnership with UniFAJ’s International Department. Deadlines and procedures are communicated directly by the partner institution.

Exchange Programs

Who can participate?

Students who are currently enrolled at UniFAJ, are in good standing with regard to their academic, administrative, and financial obligations, and meet the criteria established by the International Department and the host institution are eligible to participate.

How long does the exchange program last?

The duration varies according to the program and partner institution. UniFAJ and UniMAX offer exchange programs ranging from short-term to a full academic year abroad (1 or 2 semesters). The choice of exchange program is directly linked to the student's objectives and goals.

What types of programs are available?

UniFAJ offers Study Abroad, Internship Abroad, and Short-Term Course Abroad programs to its students, in accordance with the partnerships established with foreign universities and institutions.

Do I need to be fluent in another language?

While full fluency is not always required, it is important to have a good level of comprehension and communication in the language in which classes will be taught. Some partner universities may request proficiency certifications or language level interviews for their programs.
